Care & Advice

How to Care for Solid Wood

Simple routines for everyday maintenance.

Oakvello Studio

Solid wood is forgiving and long-lasting, and a little regular care keeps it looking its best.

Everyday cleaning

Wipe surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry. Avoid harsh cleaners, sprays with silicone, and prolonged standing moisture.

Heat and light

Use mats under hot dishes and keep pieces away from radiators. Timber tones shift gently in sunlight, so move objects occasionally to avoid uneven patches.

Refreshing the finish

Oiled finishes can be refreshed with a compatible maintenance oil. Follow the care instructions supplied with your piece, as needs vary by finish.
